I started playing horn at about 12 years old and joined the City of Chester band a few years later.

I played with Chester (on horn and then baritone) until I went to college when I played with Cambridge University Brass Band for six and a half years (including a stint on Bb Bass).

Through my time at college I also played with a couple of local bands with whom I contested.

I then spent three years doing research in Los Angeles: I packed up my horn and took it with me to the sunshine and while in LA I played with the Golden State British Brass Band. 

When I came back from the US at the end of 2002 I started playing with City of Chester again, this time on Bb Bass.

 I moved to Sale in 2008 and joined Sale Brass at the start of 2009.
