Written by mum Pam ( 1st Baritone): Sam found an old bugle belonging to his Grandad when he was 5 and wanted to play it. He did so well that I borrowed a trumpet for him and he started lessons at school aged 6. He progressed very quickly and loved every minute of playing.

He plays in the school orchestra and brass group and joined Sale's training band in Autumn 2007 to gain some more ensemble playing experience.

He was encouraged to try out playing with the main band and is really happy on back row cornets getting some valuable advice from the more experienced players.

He also plays piano and alto sax in his spare time......not that there's very much of that
