Sun, 06 Jul 2008 This weekend the band played at Altrincham festival.... .... in our smart new green and white striped gazebo organised by Karl Soon into the first set, a brief but torrential downpour gave us the chance to test out it's water resistant properties. Drum sticks and trombone slides were used to great effect to dislodge the accumulating water on the canopy. Just a pity the tent didn't quite cover the solo euph's seat!

Tue, 24 Jun 2008 We played 2 engagements this weekend The first on Saturday, Partington People's Church fete was moved inside because of the downpour. Sunday we were at Walton Hall Gardens, the players were under cover in the 'band stand' but the extreme blustery weather was not conducive to the audience sitting out and enjoying the playing! Thanks to all that braved the conditions and special thanks to Karl for conducting the band.

Mon, 16 Jun 2008 Sale won the second place trophy at Kirkby Lonsdale Contest A great day out yesterday at Kirkby Lonsdale where we achieved a fantastic result of second place in our section, playing Slaidburn, Castell Coch, the hymn Nearer My God to Thee, and Valerius Variations by Phillip Sparke. Huge thanks to John Dickinson for his tremendous hard work in preparing us for the contest and well done to everyone, a great team effort. We were so delighted that on the coach back, we took the trophy on a celebratory lap of the northbound M6 !

Sun, 15 Jun 2008 A sunny afternoon in Sale yesterday, where we played as part of the Sale Festival The band performed by the Waterside, whilst the decorated canal boats passed by. On their return journey one of the boats had a passenger on board - the Mayor of Trafford, who stepped came ashore at the Waterside to be greeted by the Band President Councillor Jane Baugh and then onto meet the band and hear us play Castell Coch.

Thu, 20 Mar 2008 Welcome to the new website for Sale Brass. We hope you will keep coming back to the new website (at its new address www.salebrass.co.uk) to keep track of the latest news from the bandroom and so that you can find out where you can next come to see and hear us perform. You can read about the long history of the band and how it has remained a central part of the local community. Also keep your eyes on the Gallery - more photos, new and old, will hopefully be appearing shortly (If you are a former member of the band, or just a longtime supporter, and you have any photos of the band, we would be delighted if you would be able to send copies to us for inclusion on the website.)
