Sale Brass Band Presents the Foden's Richardson Band at 7:30pm at the Garrick Theatre, Altrincham

Present an evening of the finest in brass band music with the Foden's Richardson Band (website), who are the current All England Masters Champions. The evening will be hosted by John Maines. All tickets are £12.00 and can be obtained through the Garrick Box Office (Tel: 0161 928 1677)
We all need to be there by 5:00pm.

After a busy few weekends of playing Soo has an update on the Piper Hill job.

A record 14 of us gathered at Piper Hill School for our annual performance. It was especially good to have Pat Hook and Joanne O'Brien come along to join in.  Steve Ash conducted us and we also welcomed some of the now regular guest conductors from the school to lead the band.  In addition we had Lesley and Sue supervising the under 3's percussion section consisting of John Jr, Rohan and Jonathan.  Richard excelled this year with a large range of instruments to hand out to the school children who joined in rapturously, playing, singing and dancing. Several of the children came to the front to Sign (Language) Silent Night which was moving to watch. As ever the Can-Can and Jingle Bells received the most applause.

Just a quick reminder that the rehearsal this week is on Tuesday at 8:00 at the Salvation Army Hall - 27 Ashton Lane, Sale - map

The concert with Foden's last Sunday was a complete success. Details to follow.

I have just added the Christmas events etc on the events page that I have received from Karl. Also the following message is from Soo:

"I have bought and received the tickets for Brassed Off for Fri 18th Jan 2008 7.30pm. 20 tickets have been reserved, so it should be a good band social night out. Tickets are £10.25 each, if those who have reserved the tickets could please give me the cash or cheques payable to SM Cook, they are ready to be issued.

If anyone is regretting not putting their name down, please let me know as there are still tickets available"

A few things to report this week. Firstly John Dickinson has agreed to be our new Musical Director and he will start tomorrow night.

The move went well yesterday and we are now filly installed at the Sale Sports Club - thanks go to Antony, Colin, Eddie, Gerry, Peter C, Peter T Richard and a special thanks to Karl who also arranged the transport.

The concerts on Tuesday (GMex) and Saturday (Timperley) went well and thanks go to Lesley from the following photos:

Well another busy weekend with tomorrows Timperley Fair. The events at the Disley & Lyme Horticultural Society, Walton Hall and Ashton Town centre all went well but not what you could call traditional summer weather. Also a reminder for committee members that there is a meeting on Monday night and the move to the new bandroom has been fixed for the 22 September.

Soo has made a suggestion that the band should have a night out and see "Brassed Off" at Garrick Playhouse between 14 and 19 January. I suggest you get you preferred dates to Soo.

It is with deep regret that the committee has accepted Steve Shawcross's resignation as Musical Director, a post that he has held for the last seven years. I am sure we all wish him good luck for his next musical project.

As I am sure we all will agree that the Funday / Cheque presentation to the Kirsty appeal an amazing event. I have got some pictures from Steve so I have just uploaded them. Also this was the first event where the training band played in public.

In case you haven't heard we got a joint seventh place in yesterdays Buxton contest. Just a quick reminder that there in no rehearsal tonight and we will not be attending the Boarshurst Contest next Saturday.

Buxton Contest - Pavilion Gardens (map)

We have to be there at the rehearsal room at 7:30am prompt ready to play so an early start as we have to report at 8:30am to the contest control at the Octagon Theatre, next to the swimming pool. According to Lesley there is plenty of parking in the Pavillion Gardens on Burlington Road, but remember that parking restrictions still apply on Sundays and all parking fees must be paid.

The rehearsal is in St.Anne's community Hall, Hardwick Square West, Buxton (map) and the directions are as follows:

27 April 2007

The training band page has just been added to the website. A number of photographs will be added once parental permission has been obtained. Also Lesley has booked the St. Anne's Community Hall for a 7:30am rehearsal before the Buxton contest - instructions and directions will be available on Monday.

Just a quick reminder that there is no rehearsal tomorrow. Also the 16 April will be the start of our four trial sessions at the Sale Sports club which is on on Clarendon Crescent just before you get to Dane Road - map. These are trial sessions as many things are yet to be resolved. However the committee welcomes your feedback during this trial period and our present rehearsal venue will still be available so there will be no pressure regarding this matter.

19 February 2007

The concert at the United Reform Church in Ashton on Mersey was a great success the other weekend and enjoyed by all. I have just added the minutes from the last committee meeting.

Well it was a great concert on Saturday with about 200 people attending the Mayors Charity Concert and from the audience feedback it was well received.  I have just added the details for the two contests onto the event page, so with you kindly add them to your diaries.
